Magu's nomination: politicians urge Buhari to pick a different candidate

Magu's nomination: politicians urge Buhari to pick a different candidate President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to select another candidate for the EFCC job
- The call for a new replacement was made by some politicians in Lagos
- According to the Lagos politicians, renominating Magu, is an indication that no other Nigerian is competent nor credible enough
- Magu's nomination has been turned down twice by the Nigerians Senate
While debates over the rights of President Muhammadu Buhari to renominate Ibrahim Magu as boss of EFCC, still lingers, some politicians in Lagos have called on the federal government to look for another person to manage the affairs of the commission.
The politicians said in interviews with newsmen on Monday in Lagos that the acting chairman of the commission, Ibrahim Magu, was not the only Nigerian competent to manage it.
According to Vanguard, Chief Ola Apena, the deputy chairman of Lagos state chapter of PDP, advised the government not to leave Nigerians with the impression that nobody else could do the job.
“Magu is not the only Nigeria that can manage EFCC; other Nigerians have done it before.
“If the DSS concludes that Magu does not possess the level of integrity and transparency needed, so be it.
“I do not think there should be any fuse about it as a section of the society is making it to look. National Assembly members are not the ones who wrote the report,’’ Apena said.
Mr Dennis Aghanya, the executive secretary of anti-corruption and research-based data initiative, urged President MuhBuhari to nominate somebody else in place of Magu.

The Football Association on Thursday asked Arsene Wenger to clarify remarks about penalties given against his side made before and after Arsenal's Premier League game with Chelsea. Both matches ended as draws and Wenger now has until 1800 GMT on Tuesday to respond. Arsenal conceded another late penalty against Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, as Eden Hazard went down following a challenge from Hector Bellerin. The game finished 2-2.
