Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, in an interview on Arise Television, indicated that this year's Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is the best that they have witnessed in the past three years.

Prof. Ishaq, during the interview, said, "Indeed, the result this year is the best at least in the last three years, but I will say the best in the last ten years.

He added, "You see, assessment is a serious business. When we are talking about educational assessment, the purpose of the examination determines the format of the results.

Going down memory lane, he said, "If you can cast your mind back to when you were in primary school, no one is talking about credit; they will say second position, first position, and so on and so forth. Even when you're in secondary school, by the time you're still taking the same subject, all the members of the class will just be ranked as your position within the group that you belong to.

On what people have insinuated about this year's results, he further added that "people are taking about the results this year being bad; if anything is bad, not today, this may have been bad before. Those who scored fifty percent and above last year were 23 percent; a year before, it was 22 percent, so 24 percent is an improvement over that, but what caught attention this year was that we gave you a format.
